Barbarian Girl II

A practice sketch done without reference, by building the figure methodically. I do these things to exercise my memory and often to practice specific things. In this sketch, for instance, the particular focus was on the difference between the shoulders (one pulled back, the other pushed in), the muscle tone in a moderately twisted pose with most weight on one leg, and, if you can believe it, the toes. I tend to gloss over toes when I am in a hurry.

I have placed the finished sketch side by side with the construction manikin. This is how my drawing-from-imagination manikin looks like; I start with a loose outline of masses and then position the major muscle groups.
